What should be included in a good employee profile?

More is not always more - especially when it comes to employee profiles: if you put everything in there, you end up saying very little. Between tool lists, project positions and soft skill phrases, the information that is really relevant often gets lost. A good profile gets to the heart of why a person is a perfect fit for a specific project.

But what information is actually crucial? We show you step by step how to create a convincing and informative consultant profile.

1 General information

The most important information about the employee should be visible at first glance: The role, length of professional experience and educational qualifications. Availability is also important. A photo is not absolutely necessary, but can convey sympathy.

2. Short profile: Clear overview in a few sentences

A concise description of the employee makes it clear what makes the employee special and why they are a good fit for the project. As the term “short description” suggests, the description should summarize the most important arguments in favour of the employee in just a few sentences.

3. Skills: Technical, methodical, relevant

List professional, technical and methodological skills. Also add social skills - these give an even clearer picture of the employee. Make sure that particularly important skills are highlighted to make it easier for your customer to assess the suitability of your employee.

4 Education and professional background

List relevant qualifications and career stages - compact and up-to-date.

5. project history: quality before quantity

Describe significant projects with a focus on the role, tasks and skills acquired in the project. Tip: Highlight particularly relevant projects visually. When describing projects, avoid generic descriptions and make it as clear as possible what contribution the employee contributed to the success of the project.

6 Other qualifications: Languages, certificates and credentials

List meaningful certificates and credentials to give a complete picture of your employee’s qualifications. Language skills complete the profile.

Conclusion: Clear profiles create trust

A good employee profile is not a multi-page CV, but a focused profile of competencies. It helps project managers to make the right decision more quickly - and positions your employees optimally in the market.
